MFA requires a second proof of identity beyond your password — something you have (a phone or key) or something you are (a fingerprint).
Authenticator apps and hardware security keys are generally stronger than SMS text codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swapping.
Enable MFA first on your email account — it's often the recovery method for everything else you own online.
